Violet and Hawthorn is dedicated to producing high-quality, eco-friendly clothing for children and adults alike. Each item of clothing is handcrafted in my home with eco-friendly, organic materials. My clothing is built to last through play and real-life adventures. Here are the top five reasons that we believe in handmade, organic clothing.
Higher Quality
First things first, the quality of our clothing is much higher than big-store clothing. This is good for both your wallet and the health of you and your loved ones. Organic materials are grown naturally without the use of fertilizers, pesticides, or other toxic chemicals. This means that our fabrics reduce the allergic reactions and skin sensitivities that are caused by synthetic and non-organic materials. Not only is our clothing gentler on sensitive skin, but it is softer to the touch. Many of our products are made of organic cotton, which means the cotton was entirely hand-picked. This harvesting process keeps the fibers as soft as they can be, which is perfect for your little ones.
Better for the Planet
This is a big one. At Violet and Hawthorn, we care deeply about the quality of the earth that we are leaving for our children and grandchildren. Organic materials are grown using eco-friendly farming methods that benefit the health of the planet and the health of those living on it. Organic farming uses far less water and energy than conventional farming methods. In fact, organic cotton production uses 62% less energy than regular cotton.
Also, the chemicals used in conventional farming are so dangerous. When harmful pesticides and fertilizers are added to the soil, there is chemical runoff during rain and irrigation that pollutes nearby rivers and lakes. This affects the plants, animals, and humans that depend on these water sources.
Made to Last
As a mom to three young children, I know the importance of having clothes that are made to last. Kid’s (and mom’s) clothes are put to the test every day! Whether they are playing out in the mud, dragging their knees on the floor, wrestling with their siblings—the list goes on and on—they need clothes that will not rip or tear as they play. Our high-quality fabrics are meant to last through whatever your little ones put them through.
Attention to Detail
I pride myself on my attention to detail as I am creating each piece of clothing for Violet and Hawthorne. Because each piece is handmade, I can easily catch any little blemishes or mistakes that need to be remedied. Big-store clothing is mass-produced by machinery. If there is a mistake or flaw, it is not caught unless you find it for yourself. I am so careful to pay attention to the little things as I am sewing to make sure you are getting the highest quality product you can find.
You are Supporting Real People
Finally, when you buy from Violet and Hawthorn, you are buying from a small business powered by real people. Every time you order, there is a real person cheering behind their computer screen. I am so grateful for each of my beloved customers and their decision to purchase from an eco-friendly, organic small business.
